Madurai, Oct 18 (PTI) Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today directed the Tamil Nadu Government to file a detailed affidavit regarding the measures taken by it against PRP Exports Limited, a granite firm facing charges of illegal quarrying, in view of the confusions prevailing about the sealing of the premises. Justice Vinod Kumar Sharma directed the government to file a detailed affidavit and posted a petition by the company partner Sureshkumar seeking to remove the seals. Government Counsel Nageswara Rao submitted that the entire premises had not been sealed. Only three places including two buildings had been sealed. If the company was not working, the government was not responsible. The counsel for Petitoner Rajiv Dhawan said the company's total operations had been paralysed because of the sealing. He wondered if the Executive Magistrate had powers to seal the company premises without the conducting any preliminary inquiry. Whatever reasons cited by the administration, including prevention of illegal mining, were lame excuses and not reasons to seal the company. The company had everyright to proceed with its work.If there were criminal cases, let the government proceed with them according to law, they could not paralyse the company. The Government had filed criminal cases against the PRP Exports company partners including P.R.Palanisamy for illegally quarrying granite, causing revenue loss to the government and violating explosvies act. While Palanisamy had surrendered, the other partners of the company were absconding. PTI SSN VS
